i am realising this really stupid trend of downplaying mouri and for some reason nobody doubts a freaking 2ft tall kid making deductions. like wtf, give mouri some more intelligent writing

the problem with the idea of giving Kogoro better 'writing' is... THAT'S NOT THE WHOLE POINT OF THE SHOW! :> the focus of the show is Conan/Shinichi's brain shoved into a little kid's body.

once in a while, maybe every other Season, Kogoro catches a case where we get a tiny glimpse of how he ever survived as a police detective for the few years he was one. be happy the mangaka/anime screenwriters throw you even those bones.

Kogoro is purposefully written as an impulsive gambler, and a binge-drinking, heavy smoking, skirt chasing, child abusing, self-absorbed buffoon. the purpose is, to DIRECTLY contrast with Conan/Shinichi on a weekly basis.

Kogoro is the 'funny guy' and Conan is the 'straight man'. it's as simple as that.
